VU-NT2 registration form Evening and Saturday courses

Welcome at the Department Dutch as a Second Language!
 

You can apply for evening and Saturday courses that start in September 2025.
A course takes 8 weeks.
Evening courses: lessons twice per week, on Monday and Thursday, 18.00-20.30
Saturday courses (up to A2): one lesson per week, 09.30-12.30

If you apply as an advanced learner (preferably with a certicate A1 or above), you will have to take part in a mandatory central intake. Please be aware that placement is not guaranteed after taking part in an intake.

Are you a VU student (Bachelor, Master, Prospective, Exchange, Semester in Amsterdam)?
You can apply for Basic Dutch on Campus.This course is exclusively for VU students (but not PhD students!).
That course takes 16 weeks, with one lesson per week on a Tuesday.
There are also three additional culture lessons on a Wednesday.

Of course you can apply for a regular (8 week) evening or Saturday course as a VU student.
Please be aware that the regular courses are very demanding and intensive!

 
Choose course
It is not possible to pay for this course with a DUO loan for civic integration (inburgering). 

If you have a civic integration obligation (inburgeringsplicht), you cannot apply for this course individually. Your 'gemeente' will have to contact us. We cannot accept individual applications in this case.

If you have a civic integration obligation (inburgeringsplicht) as a 'gezinsmigrant' and you yourself are responsible for and can choose / pay for your Dutch language courses, you can apply here.

If your first language is German, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian or Afrikaans you will be able to learn the basics of Dutch more quickly. You can take the course Dutch for Work and Study SPRINT (A0-A2). SPRINT is a more intensive course than
Basic Dutch on Campus. One module of the SPRINT course equals two modules of the regular course and leads to A2.The discount rate for VU students also applies to this course.

Course fee

Please ask your employer to send an e-mail to vu-nt2@vu.nl to confirm that the company will pay for your Dutch course. 

In order to prepare the invoice we need both the e-mail confirmation from your employer and the following information: 

 
If you have a loan from DUO for civic integration, you can not pay for this course with that DUO loan. 
That DUO loan is only valid for an intensive day course and not for an evening/Saturday course.
We will still take your details and refer you to the respective NT2 team. However, applicants coming to us via a 'gemeente' will always have priority due to the contracts that we have with the respective 'gemeentes'.

Prospective students who did not yet receive their student card may upload their Admission Letter.

If you don't know the exact date, please fill out the first of the month or January 1st.
ERK = Common European Framework of Reference. It describes what you must be able to show that you mastered the language at a certain level.
A1 is the lowest level, C2 is the level of 'near native speaker' with academic level.
If someone else is paying for you, please mention name, phonenumber and e-mail address of the person/company who is going to pay!
